The Young Marines of Northwest Ohio is a new unit under the command of the Ohio Regiment. The unit was founded by Commanding Officer, Troy Campbell, a former US Marine. The Young Marines of Northwest Ohio share the same mission as the other 240+ units nationwide, to serve as a youth education program for boys and girls ages 8 through high school completion. The Young Marines promote the mental, moral, and physical development of its members, and the program focuses on character building, leadership and a healthy, drug-free lifestyle for its members.
The Young Marines of Northwest Ohio is led by a dedicated group of volunteers, each of which has been screened by the National Headquarters in Washington DC. At present time, the unit has three registered adults on staff, with many more awaiting their approval from the National Headquarters. The current registered adult staff are all experienced staff members in the Young Marine program. Mr. Campbell is a former US Marine, and has experience as a training officer for the Young Marines.
Mr. McDonald has been acitive in youth programs and sports for over 15 years. He is a former Fire Fighter and EMT.
Jaime Campbell, Adjutant, Medical Officer
Mrs. Campbell is a registered nurse, and has experience as a Young Marine medical officer. Jan Locy, Paymaster, Female Staff Advisor
Mrs. Locy brings the most Young Marine experience to the unit. She has experience as a Support Staff member for the Young Marines and has observed both of her sons in the program for many years. Young Marines are challenged in the classroom and in the field. Lessons presented on drill nights will be put into practice during various activities in the field. Young Marines are encouraged to be prepared for drill night, both during recruit training and after earning the title of Young Marine. Young Marines will be held accountable for their actions while in the program. Weekly drill nights will focus heavily on physical fitness. Drill, physical training and PT tests are all part of being a Young Marine. PT scores partially determine promotions and entrance into special programs and schools. The Young Marine program is for boys and girls who want to join. It is difficult and stressful for staff and other Young Marines to work with a youth who does not want to be part of the program. |
