In cooperation with St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center, Lucas county and John Mansville, the Young Marines of Northwest Ohio volunteered their time to play "victims" in a mock disaster training excercise. Young Marines began their day at St. Vincent's ER where they were made up to look burned, cut and bruised. Some were then transported to the 'scene' at the John Mansville plant. The scenario included a semi accident, chemical leak and fire. Young Marines played their roles by being victims all around the truck accident. Fireman assessed, tagged, decontaminated and transported the 'victims,' all while being evalutated by State Inspectors. Two lucky Young Marines got the ride of a lifetime, as they were taken to the hospital via Lifeflight and Promedicas helicopter transport. The other victims were transported back via life squads. Once at St. Vincent's, Young Marines were decontaminated and treated. Please click on the gallery for pictures from this unique event! NWO Young Marines and Staff would like to thank St. Vincent's Hospital and ER for allowing us to participate in this event.
